Who says mature workers are not valued?
Grandmother of seven, Calvary Silver Circle’s employee, Lisa Sanders, won the Victorian Community Services and Health Industry Trainee for 2006 award at an awards dinner held at the Plaza Ballroom last night (July 20).
Lisa was one of eight finalists in this category, having been nominated by Calvary Silver Circle’s RTO- the Silver Circle Training Institute- as an outstanding student completing her Certificate III in Home and Community Care over the past 12 months.
According to Lisa “the traineeship was the best thing I have done. I was apprehensive at returning to study and felt that I was too old to start a program like the Certificate III. The 14 months has been a journey of growth for me- a wonderful and rewarding experience. I have grown in confidence, learnt many new skills to bring to my work and have had existing skills reinforced as being good practice. I am looking forward to continuing my learning.”
