Calvary Silver Circle -

Silver Threads Spring/Summer 2006

18 December 2006

I am pleased to welcome you to the Spring edition of Silver Threads and keep you informed of activities within Calvary Silver Circle as well as broader issues for people living in the community.

The winter months have been busy and positive for Calvary Silver Circle, continuing to be welcomed into the broader group of Little Company of Mary Health Care and pursuing the opportunities available for current and future clients through being part of this national health care group.

Calvary Silver Circle is committed to excellent service to our clients and to achieve this we need to have a workforce which is skilled, valued and engaged with the work they undertake. As part of this commitment, we invest significantly in our training through our own RTO, the Silver Circle Training Institute, to support and develop the staff to enable them to give the service required.

Since the last newsletter, our training and our staff have been recognized for their excellence.  In July, Lisa Sanders, a support worker in Melbourne won the Trainee of the Year Award at the Victorian Community Services and Health Industry Training Board Awards. Lisa was one of eight finalists in this category, having been nominated by the Silver Circle Training Institute- as an outstanding student completing her Certificate III in Home and Community Care over the past 12 months.  Lisa works in the Specialist Children’s unit of Calvary Silver Circle, supporting children with complex medical needs and their families.
