Calvary Silver Circle Turns 17!
It all started in a living room in a suburb of Melbourne 17 years ago. Silver Circle was created on May 20, 1991 by two health care professionals- Gerry Naughtin (social worker) and Dianne Main (nurse) and a third colleague Lyn Knorr, who left in the early days.
Having worked in local government community services and other health related roles both Gerry and Diane were frustrated by the limitations of existing services, being roster driven, not client driven.
The name Silver Circle was developed to represent the concept of client focused care, with the ‘silver’ representing quality and older people, and the circle being the circle of life, where people at any stage may need assistance.
From a slow start, Silver Circle, now known as Calvary Silver Circle, is a National Community Care Specialist with services extending from the Tiwi Islands to Tasmania.
According to CEO Libby Saunders, ‘It was born out of a desire to provide responsive support to people who wish to remain at home, with the security of having reliable and affordable services provided in a way which respects their particular requirements.‘
From very small beginnings we have grown to supporting over 10,000 clients per month assisted by 2000 employees. Our workers are trained by our own Registered Training Organisation ensuring that their training is relevant to our clients. Central to all these changes has been our original purpose of ensuring quality customer focused services. ‘
